: Bilirubin in urine has nothing to do with HIV, and our negative HIV and hepatitis tests are conclusive.

: GGT is present in other organs in the body also. Is your alk phos truly elevated? What is the normal range at your lab?  If all other liver enzymes are normal, I'd repeat the GGT. Persistent elevation of GGT is usually a sign of liver or biliary tract pathology in which case consulting a gastroenterologist would be advisable.

The question is why?: A total serum bilirubin is a little higher than the usual range in people. The question is why... meaning one needs to find out why. A total bilirubin of 1.6 is fine in certain people or in certain situations, but is a sign of disease in other people or in other situations. One can work with his primary care doctor to first find out why.

Not sure: of the question. Bilirubin of 11 is QUITE jaundiced and would indicate a significant liver problem. Malaria canoccur periodically and would be a reasonfor treatment. Many,many other bad things can do that and would be reasons for medical evaluation.

Workup: Your physician knows what to do. A trial off alcohol and meds may be indicated. If this proves not to be the problem, then you need to be worked up for hepatitis B and C, hemochromatosis, antitrypsin deficiency, and autommune hepatitis; Wilson's is unlikely at your age but may be worth considering. This may simply be your body's way of asking for more exercise. Best wishes.

Large fatty liver: What were your lipids? What is your B12? vgetarian?   Increased bili  is  seen in low B12 and NAFLD is associated.. Also  unconjugated bili is from hemolysis ( meds or G6PD-middle east), B- thalessemia( congenital),  medications,  diseases affecting  conjugation( Gilbert's-Mediterranean ) Exposed to chemicals? carbon tetrachloride medications? gemfibrizol?   Would avoid tylenol (acetaminophen) f/u/ w /doc
