These nerves then travel into the forearm and hand to allow us to feel objects and move our muscles. Injuries to the brachial plexus can results in weakness and numbness to the upper extremity.

For sometime : Your arm movement will be limited for sometime ,brachial plexus injury takes a year or two to resolve ,but you should be persistent with physical therapy

: An MRI of the shoulder may get detailed views of soft structures in the shoulder, an ultrasound may be suboptimal in detecting abnormalities to the nerve level, may still pick fluid collections for example. Best would be to start with a clinical exam with an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in shoulder pathology.

Surgery/nerve stim: Your problem may fall into a surgically managed category and then you may get it fixed that way if you are wiling to go for surgery. It would be advisable, though, to give physical therapy a chance to work on the nerve, since the outcome of surgery may not be 100% predictable. Also, nerve stimulation, tens unit, may turn out helpful for some patients, but if there is treatable problem treat it 1st.

Under MD supervision: Weaning of opioid medication should be done under medical supervision.

Every tapering regimen is individualized to each patient in order to avoid withdrawal symptoms.  In addition, your doctor may start you on different non-opioid medications (Gabapentin, Cymbalta, (duloxetine) etc) to help control the pain.

I would recommend to ask your doctor who knows your history about weaning off your medications

Maybe: Not all nerve damage will show up on an MRI - only that which is caused by a disc pushing on a nerve coming out of the spinal column.  The next step would be to see a pain management specialist or neurologist to try and ascertain the diagnosis.  Fibromyalgia may be the problem which is not uncommon after car accidents and whiplash injuries.

while i was using my electric stim machine on my shoulder,  i placed the electrode near my bicep tendon where it connects to my shoulder. the voltage wasn't too high but i still feel a tingle travelling down my arm. could i have caused nerve damage?

: Doubt that you could do damage to nerves by an FDA approved stimulation device. You may have over stimulated a nerve, resulting in these abnormal sensations. They should resolve in a few days, if that long. No lasting damage or sensations would be expected.  Good luck

: Sometimes neck injections provide valuable diagnostic information to confirm the "pain generator".  If a nerve root is compressed causing radiating symptoms, an epidural steroid might provide temporary relief.  Although very rare, spinal cord issues are a potential complication of neck injections.  Discuss risks with your doctor prior to injection.

Depends: This would depend on the nerve that you are concerned about.Based on the type of work as a cashier, you are likely concerned about carpal tunnel syndrome.This leads to numbness and pain in the thumb, index and 3rd fingers. If it is mild, check with a hand or occupational therapist for exercises or splints that may help.If it worsens, see a neurosurgeon to discuss possible surgery to free the nerve.
