A growth: I assume this is a thyroid nodule which basically mean you have a growth on the thyroid.  It's very common and not a cause for concern as long as you follow it again in the future to make sure if it's not growing.  Biopsy of the nodule will help determine if it's benign or cancerous.  The risk of cancer is very low, approx 5%.

Mass: It means that a mass was observed that had about the same echo characteristics as the surrounding liver. The significance of the mass would have to be further evaluated, usually with a needle biopsy, done under ultrasound or ct guidance.

Less than one inch: One inch is 2.54 cm, so your mass is a little less than one inch in diameter.  You should have it biopsied at your earliest convenience, along with thyroid blood tests.

Nonspecific: A 6 mm thyroid nodule is small.  We usually do not worry about nodules under 10 mm.  A diffusely heterogeneous thyroid is commonly seen in patients with hashimoto's thyroiditis.  This is an autoimmune disorder that can result in an underactive thyroid.  You list being on immunosuppressive therapy.  If you have one autoimmune disorder, you are at higher risk for another.

Here are some...: If living up to &gt; 50, some 35-50% of persons will develop small cysts in kidneys, which display themselves as isoechoic mass. For a 2.8-cm one, it is reasonable to just follow it conservatively by repeating a renal US in one year for comparison; that is enough. By the way, do you have blood in the urine? More? Mass: If a CA-125 hasn't been done yet, then it should be.  Depending on the size of the mass and any findings on a CT scan such as ascites, you may need to be referred to a gynecologic oncologist.

Biopsy: If your nodules have grown that much they need to be biopsied. You also should be on replacement brand name T4 to reduce the stimulation to thyroid and nodule enlargement. If you had half your thyroid removed because it was having trouble and forming nodules, removal of one half of it only made your thyroid's job more difficult and problem with accelerate without replacement.
