Start with college.: In order to get into medical school, you must complete a bachelors degree and take the medical college admissions test (mcat).  Then after completing 4 years of medical school, you begin your 5 years of orthopaedic resident training.  Finally you can do a fellowship in spine surgery. If you don't take any extra time or get stuck doing research, it will only take 10 years for you to finish training.

spine cyst: If the cyst is close to the spinal cord i would suggest a neurosurgeon.

Drug screen.: Depending on the assay used, both oxycodone and tramadol may show in the urine drug screen for three days or so. That being said, for the record, if you have prescriptions for these medications then your best bet may be full disclosure.

my son is 14 and he has had back issue for 10 months. he diagnosed with a l5 stress fracture , its healed but stillin pain. back surgeon has no answer?

Pain after fracture: Unfortunately, even after bones have healed, some people continue to have pain at the site of injury. There are many reasons for this, but there are things that can definitely help. Physical therapy is a must. Chronic back pain after injury is often due to continual aggravation of site from daily activities. A physiatrist (MD trained in musculoskeletal care) can also help with pain management.

Answer: If the pain, weakness and or numbness cannot be controlled with pain medication, stretching exercises, and other nonoperative management, i recommend you see a spine specialist for further recommendations.   Severe pain, bowel/bladder incontinence, sudden change in sensation/motor function may require emergent evaluation.

what does a call to go back to the surgeon mean? i had a lumpectomy?

Get results: Most physicians these days will have patients come back in to go over results. It is more effective to provide results face to face and answer questions. If biopsy results indicate further evaluation is needed, then going over this info face to face is desirable.

i had a root canal two weeks ago, i  seen an oral surgeon last week about a wisdom tooth,im still having pain which is getting better.oral surgeon found white round spot under rc tooth cone beam he call it condensing ostiteis come back 6 mnt cancer?

Maybe: I think he or she is probably trying to make you more comfortable or relate to you.  But it back fired.   Lots of times patients overlook this and get the services that they need.

my surgeon told me almost a month ago that i need a fusion. it hasn't been scheduled yet, they were supposed to call. should i be worried about this?

Not to worry.: Please give the office a call to check up on things.  They may be working on it or the scheduling may have fallen through the cracks.  There are many details to deal w/in a busy office but your case is also important.  Stay calm and ask simply and directly.  Peace and good health.
