: Valacyclovir (Valtrex) has no effect on HIV test reliability. No drug or medical condition does, so you can be sure you do not have HIV. And despite what you might have read online, your symptoms do not suggest HIV at all.

im taking  valtrex (valacyclovir) on a daily basis, plus super lysine 1500mg, and vitamins c and zinc. yet i continue to have outbreaks that lasts for a week or two. i watch what i eat, stop smoking! please help me!

HSV 2: Make sure the dose of Valtrex (valacyclovir) is about 500-1, 000mg daily. Have your doctor do blood tests to check you immune status. Stress, anxiety can affect your immune system. Consider psychotherapy as an option.

Yes: You can pass herpes with or without spotting. You can pass it with or without any open lesions on your genitals. You may consult this site for more information on this topic:

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Risk exists: You can transmit herpes via sex even if your partner is not actively shedding or has active lesions. While Valtrex (valacyclovir) can prevent outbreaks from herpes lesions, it in itself is not a cure and only a drug to suppress outbreaks. Condoms can drastically reduce but not entirely eliminate the risk of transmission.

ive had herpes for 6 years and am on valtrex (valacyclovir). recently my bf popped a blister and it hurts.. is it spreadable? how can i lessen the pain?

That was wrong to do: It was the wrong thing to do.I suggest you have it checked by your doctor as it hurts and yes it is spreadable as open lesion.Take over the counter pain med like aleve or ibuprofen or Tylenol (acetaminophen) till you see the doctor

Yes: This is considered a category b drug, meaning no human studies have shown any adverse on the developing  fetus.

i had a hsv2 outbreak and took valtrex for three days. it healed but i am worried it has left a scar. is this possible? i have had this for 12 years and rarely get outbreaks. if i do they last for 10 days but have never left a scar. is it normal?

: Scars occur when the skin or mucuc membrane has been disrupted to a large degree and the healing forms new tissue to fill in the defect. Was your outbreak particularly bad? I would continue to cover the area with a moisturizing, emollient cover- aquaphor, vaseline and give it time to properly heal. Most scars reshape and fade over time.

hsv 22 years. usually 1 spot for abt a wk. have had spot now for 3 weeks. took course of valtrex. will not go away. looks like a burn.  breakout or no?

Probably not herpes: If the location and other aspects are typical of your past outbreaks, it might be herpes. However, "looks like a burn" doesn't sound like herpes, and it's very rare to develop resistance to Valtrex. My bet is that this is something other than herpes. See your doctor if it continues.
