Sounds like...: Early metabolic syndrome since you already have hypertension. Have your lipids and a HgA1c checked. Metformin would be the wisest treatment option! It prevents diabetes as well as treats it.

Not normal: Hi. Finger stick capillary blood glucose is not approved for diagnosis. However, having said that, that's an awfully high blood glucose for 1 hour after a meal. I suggest you get a fasting SERUM glucose and an A1c at the least; a serum glucose 2 hours after a 75 gram oral glucose load is a good idea too. I bet you'll find multiple abnormalities. Eat healthily and exercise regularly. Control diabet

Not likely.: Fasting blood glucose is 75-115 mg/dl or 4.2-6.4 mmol/l.  Diabetic levels are >7.0 mmol/l on more than one occasion, and 2 hour post-prandial or after eating they are higher, like 11.1 mmol/l or higher.  Requirements and guidelines are more stringent these days for this, but it is highly unlikely you have diabetes at this time.  You might even have low sugar so see your doctor if still concerned.

The : The most important point to stress here is when the blood sugar is taken after a meal. Two hours after a meal is a true measure of how well your body is allowing the sugar you consumed to be taken up by the cells( role of insulin). If you take it around an hour after, that is merely an indication of how much sugar you ingested at the meal and does not really tell us much. Therefore the two hour is what will give you useful information. 
If your boyfriend has well controlled diabetes, then his blood sugar should be 140 or less after two hours. If a non-diabetic such as yourself has a blood sugar greater than or equal to about 140 after two hours then you may have an issue with processing sugar, and will need to see your doctor for diabetes testing. There is no established normal range that we use for non-diabetics at two hours, but most doctors use the 140 cutoff.
Please remember the two hour blood sugar test is the most useful. Please see your doctor if you have any further questions or concerns.

Family practice : Why are you checking your blood sugars. Do you have any symptoms?  It would matter how or if you treat the low bs 's.  You should have an Insulin level.  Eat less carbohydrates and more protein with your diet.
