By not interfering: A healthy pericardium is a very flexible, thin tissue that is "just there." it generally serves little purpose, other than to allow the chambers of the heart to expand outwards in a normal fashion, without resistance, as they fill with blood. If pericardium becomes inflamed, thickened or hardened, the heart loses this outward mobility, and pressure rises greatly as the heart tries to fill.

RV strain: My personal opinion is that the pericardium serves to protect the heart inside the chest cavity but just as importantly, constrains the rv during acute overload (i.e. Sudden increase in venous return during exercise) which might cause the rv to fail.

i had a echocardiogram. i had a heart attack when i was 31. i am now 57 next month. my test showed rheumatic d/o mitral tricuspid valve pericardium mass.  can't get into a cardiologist for another month.  not sure if i should worry or not. thanks?

Unfortunately the: description you have given of the ECHO findings makes no sense at all. If you are not having symptoms it is probably OK to wait until you can see the cardiologist. If you are having problems or symptoms then I would suggest a consultation sooner or go to an ER.

Slow HR: Slow heart rate is physiological how ever there might be aproblem .You have chronotropic incompentence.That is not physiological response . May have underlying abnormal conduction disorder , need further evaluation = stress test would guide you and if abnormal need eps evaluation.

Blockages: That is true, surgery does not remove the blockages that are there, it provides a bypass route around the blockages, but if there are too many, or the artery is too small it can't be bypassed.

i need to get my gallbladder removed, but i have a pfo heart conditon. will it be okay?

Yes: You should be ok for surgery.  I would see your cardiologist before surgery and be sure to notify the anesthesiologist about your condition prior to surgery so that they can monitor your heart closely during and after surgery.
