: You can try deep throat gargling. most of the time it will go down . if the senstaion persists more then a week you might need a doc to pick it off.

Yes: Everybody always swallows dust particles and other debris on a regular basis without any problems.  This is not the cause of the feeling you have in the back of your throat.  It is caused by a local irritation or even a post nasal drip.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

This : This is an unusual scenario. I am not quite sure what happened. Possibly you experienced referred pain. Regardless, if your symptoms are still present or you have pain, you need to see a doctor. You may be dealing with a pharyngitis (throat infection) or possible had an allergic reaction.

Pharyngitis: You may be coming down w/viral vs bacterial infection. Or maybe allergies are causing post-nasal drip to irritate throat via mouth breathing. Go see your family doc if worsens. We worry about difficulty breathing &amp; swallowing. Short of that, watch for fever, cough, swollen glands, etc.

Throat: Likely this is some type of viral process or irritation from your nose.  Continue your fluids, Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen. Extra vitamin C may help.  This should be limited for a few days, but if persistent get checked.

A : A foreign body sensation such as this is often caused by post-nasal drainage it is possible the quality of mucous you are producing may be thick and tenaceous giving you a tickling sensation. An elongated or swollen uvula, also often seen associated with post-nasal drainage might give you this feeling. Severe laryngopharyngeal reflux (lpr) can give a foreign body/tickling sensation but this usually has other symptoms associated with it. If it bothers you enough have someone take a look back there.

Throat sensation: Did the ER offer anything else?  Was there a comment on how your throat appears on exam?  I think an Xray would have low probability of identifying the underlying problem with this description.  Knowing more about the timing of the problem and your history will help a physician to offer potentially more helpful advice.  A thought: postnasal drip or GERD can cause persistent scratchy throat.

Glossitis: possible inflammation of the tongue and the back of the tongue, near the taste buds. Should be checked. Advise warm water gargles and glycerine-zinc losenges ( Cold-Eze)
