It's temporary.: When you're on liquid diet, the stomach shrinks so when you eat any food , even soup which have some solid food, it expands the stomach and cause some discomfort. As you continue to eat more, the discomfort will go away.

No but....: Tums (calcium carbonate) is calcium and can often be used to supplement calcium intake for people who are at risk for thin bones. However, if you are taking Tums (calcium carbonate) daily for heartburn or indigestion or some other symptom that you are treating, then you could be masking a more serious problem and you should talk to your doctor.

Please don&#x27;t eat: medications for fun. There can be serious effects from Tums (calcium carbonate)  (especially with chronic use or taking too much) such as rebound hyperacidity, constipation, gall stones, calcinosis, hypercalcemia,  metabolic acidosis &amp; renal injury)

GERD Reflux: Use of zantac (ranitidine) or Prilosec are fine during pregnancy. You may find better control of symptoms by routinely using these medications rather than waiting for symptoms to occur. If over the counter medications do not address your symptoms, there are also several reflux medications that can be prescribed as well.

i cant eat before a colonoscopy the day before. can i take tums if my stomach hurts? i dont eat a lot but dont want to be in pain all day, so can i?

Tums ok  but no food: The point of the scope is to identify tiny polyps that could eventually turn into cancer. If you eat food you may have stool in your colon and the scope will be worthless.

Heartburn: You can eat psicy but you have to avoid greasy food, so you have to avoid fried food, greasy food, eat small frequent meals not large meals, don't eat too late before going to bed, and if you smoke, stop smoking. If you have some diet modifications and lose some weight you will still be able to enjoy your spicy food.

i don't have an appetite. i hardly eat one meal for the day, what do i do . i had surgery on my asophagus 20 years ago and take a lot of tums (calcium carbonate) now because of asid reflux . i just don't feel like eating what do i do.

Eat much?: patient with hiatal hernia and reflux do not have a problem with how much they eat as much as what they eat. Yes,we do advise patient to eat multiple small meal to facilitate the digestion.more important is to avoid eating spicy,greasy,and rich creamy food,and food that might contain a lot of acid.the medication does not cure GERD, it is simply trying to control the chemical part,
