Ulcerative Colitis: Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory disease of the colon. Symptoms include diarrhea, bloody stools, abdominal pains and more. If left untreated these symptoms go unchecked. It can lead to anemia, weight loss and malnutrition. Long standing UC can increase the risk of colon cancer and other symptoms outside of the intestines.

Many things: I assume you are referring to ulcerative colitis. The main concern about active ulcerative colitis is the development of colon cancer.  If you have uc, you need to be followed closely by a gastroenterologist with yearly colonoscopy.

serious condition: Uc is serious; stress makes it worse.Definitely avoid gluten ; dairy products as these may aggravate inflammation.Take large doses of probiotics (you can't get too much.)nutrition is important, so don't skip eating.Some find a bland diet helps.Find a way to get health insurance (to control inflammation ; prevent serious side effects of the disease.)repeated uc flares can lead to colon cancer.

Cancer: Ulcerative colitis increases risk for colon cancer as well as other systemic diseases.  Depending on severity treatment may be mild or very involved,  your gastrointestinal specialist can help answer the question in treatment,   Over the counter meds have disappointing results and stay away from ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil and aspirin as they may worsen it.

Inflamm bowel: It could increase your risk.  It does not mean you will absoultely get one of those conditions.

Be ill, poss cancer: You will likely feel very poorly from being chronically ill, having diarrhea and rectal bleeding. Anemia or a low blood count from chronic blood loss and deficiency of iron as result is common. This reduces oxygen delivery to your body tissue and organs, and results in feeling tired or fatigued. Chronic untreated colitis markedly increases your chance of developing colon cancer.
