Be ill, poss cancer: You will likely feel very poorly from being chronically ill, having diarrhea and rectal bleeding. Anemia or a low blood count from chronic blood loss and deficiency of iron as result is common. This reduces oxygen delivery to your body tissue and organs, and results in feeling tired or fatigued. Chronic untreated colitis markedly increases your chance of developing colon cancer.

Ignoring: Ignoring colitis is not a good idea. It may progress, become refractory to medication, and require surgical removal of the colon (colectomy). Uncontrolled inflammation over time can also increase your risk of developing colon cancer.
