Probably not: Carpal tunnel syndrome is compression of the median nerve in your wrist, which causes numbness in the fingers and often, shooting pain. Swelling after an injury to the hand can cause carpal tunnel symptoms. Is the left wrist only recently larger than the right? Have you had a recent injury to the hand. If you've always had a larger left hand, this is likely just slight differences in your anatomy.

i hurt my left wrist over the summer. 1 dr believes it might be carpal tunnel, but my primary doesn't believe that's the case.what could b causing it?

Occult fracture?: Wrist pain can be caused by a number of things including a missed or occult fracture, irritated tendons, nerve injury or irritation, arthritis, or bursitis. Many of these things can be treated symptomatically and resolve on their own, but some things like an occult or missed fracture may require additional evaluation and treatment. Referral to an orthopaedic surgeon or hand surgeon would help.

Yes, likely CTS.: If your symptoms involve only the median nerve, it is likely carpal tunnel but testing with Nerve Conduction Studies or Electromyography would help differentiate among other conditions that affect the nerves that originate from your back or from your muscles themselves.  Approximately 65% of patients have bilateral symptoms of Carpal Tunnel.

: Suggest you use a wrist splint at night, start vitamin B-6 supplements (do NOT exceed 400 mg daily), start OTC NSAID if your stomach can handle, and consider seeing a hand specialist.  Steroid injections are transient and not permanent solution in vast majority of cases.

No: Carpal tunnel affects the hands and wrist. Usually the symptoms of numbness, or tingling, and or pain occur at night but can occur with activities during the day  occasionally pts. Will experience retrograde symptoms of pain up the arms.

Job related: Unless you have some clearly identifiable factor other than your job that is contributing to your carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), you will have to look into a different type of work. The wrist pain is most likely related to the CTS. You need treatment now as untreated CTS can lead to permanent nerve damage. Discuss with your doctor whether you need braces, injections, or surgery.
