Yes.: If you switch contact lenses from one company to another, even if they are the same power, there can be some difference in vision due to the lens make up. Generally, the difference should be very small. If the difference is great, the powers need to be checked for correctness. If you switch contact lenses between eyes, your vision will definitely be cloudy unless both eyes have the same power.

what happens if i use a reading glass though i have perfect vision? is that harmful?

Accepted Answer

No problem: A reader will magnify the image and allow smaller details to be seen.  Magnification is routine for those dealing with fine details such as jewelers, watchmakers, electronic assembly workers, etc.   There is no harm in this and you will have the enjoyment of seeing finer, smaller objects.

Did you have LASIK?: Lasik frequently gives perfect vision but sometimes there will be a little variance. If the new vision gives you satisfaction, even if not perfect, you should stop at that point.  Only if the vision after treatment is bothersome should you consider a second procedure (enhancement).

once i was inside a pharmacy and suddenly my vision went all black, then all white. what happened exactly?

Visual Distrurbance: Sudden vision changes can be due to the following: bleaching out of retinal photoreceptors (if exposed to bright light suddenly);  blood vessel fluctuations (can be associated with headaches sometimes); medication side effects (check meds to see if vision issues a possible side effect); other optic nerve pathway issues (high eye pressure, brain pressure, masses in brain --very rare). he was walking into a room and his vision got blurry out of nowhere. this has never happened before ? what can help ?

More info: we would need much more information to give worthwhile answer, such as age of patient, one eye, both eye, how long did it last, were there any other symptoms, did it improve, etc.

See Ophthalmologist: Get thorough exam and be sure to explain your symptoms while there. Might be simple like mild astigmatism, but could be vascular insufficiency that is pronounced with head movement, even though this would be very rare in your age group. See eye specialist.

dr said my vision has improved and lowered power in my monovision contacts. he said it can happen with age. i'm 59. is that common?

Yes: Prescriptions change over time. The elasticity of your cornea, the increasing density of your lens, and the accommodative ability of your eye muscle are all factors affecting your ability to see. Changing your prescription to accommodate your needs is common.

Migraine variant: given that it was a few years ago and has not recurred, it is likely a migraine variant.  If you are under 60, do not worry and do not take oral contraceptives.

See eye doc: Sometimes it is the eye lid quivering which is a blepharospasm which tends to be from lack of sleep and too much stress.  When you stare at something, you don't blink as much and the tears evaporate and light rays hit a dry patch and a wet patch and get bent in different directions which changes vision.

i spend alot of time on my computer.i'm mentioning this cuz i'm scaredit's effecting my vision.what happens is a flash of black as if the lightwentout?

Accepted Answer

Not to worry: Computer use can be tiring and cause some degree of eye dryness but no harm will come from it.  Otherwise eye doctors would have set up shop across the street from Apple and Microsoft to get that business.
