: Your cell counts do not rule in or rule out diabetes, talk to your doc if you are worried about diabetes. A fasting blood glucose and/or hemoglobin A1c is usually checked in order to diagnose diabetes.

No: Usually no. There are a few conditions of diabetes that can cause death but overwhelmingly it's the many serious complications of diabetes that leads to death, e.g., heart attack, infections, stroke. For all, the best mitigator is constant & excellent control of diabetes and high blood pressure.

Yes but why?: Yes there are medications to stimulate growth of white blood cells but most of these treatments are restricted to cancer patients undergoing chemo therapies. Filgrastim (filgrastin) is a common one used.

Sometimes.: There is no single test, or group of tests that can detect all cancers.  An abnormal CBC (complete blood count) can find signs of blood cancer (leukemia, usually).  A comprehensive chemistry cancer may show signs of cancer, but usually only advanced disease.  A few cancers can cause the white blood count to go up, but a high WBC is very non-specific.  High WBC is rarely because of cancer.

No: Hepatitis is usually caused by a virus that infects the cells of the liver and causes inflammation and damage.  Hiv is caused by a virus that infects and destroys certain types of white blood cells (t cells or CD4 cells) that are an important part of the immune system.  There may be some changes in the white blood cell count as the body reacts to hepatitis, but no permanent immune cell damage.

Real doctor : you need to talk to a qualified healthcare professional. Nutritionists are not trained to evaluate a blood smear. What you describe doesn't normally happen.

No.: Sickle cell trait (one copy of beta-globin gene with sickle mutation and one normal copy) will not affect white blood cells. Those with sickle cell disease (two sickle genes) can have chronically elevated white blood cell counts, caused in part by inflammation in the blood vessels.

Unusual: Not sure if i understand the question.  There is a disorder called scott syndrome where phospholipids are abnormally oriented in the cell membranes.  This prevents activation of the cell.  The typical manifestation of this is bleeding disorder, due to the inability of platelets to become activated.

my last vaginal swab showed candida and leucocytes. i had an abnormal pap smear last year. are the white blood cells anything to worry about?

Have STD tests: Leukocytes (WBC) are usually not prominent with yeast infection (Candida) and often are evidence of other infections, especially STDs. Ask for testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomonas if not yet done. What kind of abnormal pap? If any doubt, talk to doctor about possible cervical biopsy to re-check for cancer or pre-cancerous changes, which also can cause increased leukocytes.
