Sometimes.: There is no single test, or group of tests that can detect all cancers. An abnormal CBC (complete blood count) can find signs of blood cancer (leukemia, usually). A comprehensive chemistry cancer may show signs of cancer, but usually only advanced disease. A few cancers can cause the white blood count to go up, but a high WBC is very non-specific. High WBC is rarely because of cancer.
