: Asthma can be diagnosed clinically if there is recurrent wheezing or recurrent coughing associated with the symptoms (like shortness of breath). If a pulmonary function test shows obstruction, a bronchodilator is given-if the obstruction is relieved, asthma is present. If there is no obstruction on the PFT, methacholine can be given-if obstruction then develops, asthma is likely present. Good luck

Chest tight,SOB: Your testing is very reassuring. I assume you had a treadmill stress test and outpatient heart monitor for 24-48 hours. If your symptoms are noted primarily at rest and not during exertion, I would suspect chronic tension and stress are the culprits, and ,if so, stress management therapy would be helpful.

And blood borne viruses like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV (the AIDS virus) are rarely if ever transmitted from dried blood. Drying kills them (especially HIV), but how long they actually survive really doesn't matter. Launder the clothing normally, but don't worry if you happened to touch the dried blood.
