A member asked:

What is unique about blood in pulmonary arteries compared with blood in other arteries?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low oxygen: An artery is a blood vessel where the blood inside is flowing away from the heart. The pulmonary arteries are unique because they are the only arteries in the body with de-oxygenated blood (low oxygen). These arteries travel to the lungs to pick up oxygen, and then return to the heart through the pulmonary veins.
