Safe in pregnancy: This drug is very safe in pregnancy. And of course your doctor would not have prescribed it if it were not safe, assuming s/he knows you are pregnant.

i was prescribed suprax for sinusitis. i have just been diagnosed with uti also. could this antibiotic help with both?

See a urologist.: If you had a prior urinary tract infection with these same symptoms, & resolved with appropriate therapy, you are likely experiencing an infection this time as well. Regardless, you should get evaluated to document the infection with a urine culture, get appropriate treatment, and look for factors that might be leading to recurrent infections. If the blood continues, further workup is needed.

Normal flora: Klebsiella in the bowel is part of normal flora.  But may become more resistant if antibiotics are used that attain high concentration in the bowel.  If appropriate conditions that relate to a UTI such as poor bladder emptying, a foreign body such as a catheter, exist, the klebsiella in the stool can colonize the urethra and cause a uti.

Recurring UTI: Get evaluated by a urologist.  All suspected uti's from this point forward should be proven with a urine culture.  This is the only way of knowing if the antibiotic selected is appropriate.

Recurrent UTI's: Looks like you developed two urinary tract infections with the same microorganism within last four months.   The problem may be related to either reinfection or persistent infection due to either not sufficient antibiotic treatment or anatomical problem. I would have your physician review your urine culture results and perhaps ask for further evaluation.

i ve few throat ulcers, and soreness and redness in throat, this occurred on 5th day after onset of use of suprax (cefixime) for uti, what may be the cause?

Virus? Herpes?: Probably urelated to Suprax (cefixime). Sore throat with ulcers sounds like a viral infection -- several possibilities, but one if them is new herpes. Was your UTI confirmed? Did those symptoms clear up? I'm wondering if you may have had sexual exposure with a new HSV infection both oral and genital. But of course only if at risk of STD. See MD ASAP, sooner the better for accurate diagnosis and effective Rx.

Go to Urologist: I assume you have have been tested for all organisms and taken the appropriate amount of antibiotics for time as directed by the Doctor who gave them to you. Plumbing problem.  You may have a Vesicoureteral reflux the retrograde passage of urine from the bladder into the upper urinary tract. This can be diagnosed by either a contrast voiding cystourethrogram or radionuclide cystogram.
