Prob not good.: The large amount of stool in the colon is not necessarily abnormal BUT, air in the abdomen means the bowel has had a leakage OR it is post surgery.
cannot say in your particular case, but generally, if there isnt surgery, a burst bowel is often fatal.

im on humira 26 weeks, and inflammation in terminal ilium is gone. the follow up mri w/w/o contrast revealed scattered colonic diverticula. no colonic wall thickening. large colonic stool burden. now on miralax but not working, can i use dulcolax?

However, in addition to drinking adequate fluids,eating soluble fiber&amp; getting regular exercise, ask him/her whether taking a bowel stimulant like SenokotS daily is ok

Impacted stool: It means that pt has severe constipation. This is common in elderly pts also in pts taking narcotics ( strong pain killers). Many medications contribute to it. Tx is to increase fluid intake, increase fiber or fiber supplements( fibercon) stool softeners , and 3xwk or if no bowel movement in 3 days. Digital disimpaction may be necessary if hard stool present in anus or rectum with or w/o enemas.

Maybe not: Hopefully it is very cleaned out, but that does not always happen.

Black stool: Black stool or tarry black stool is a sign of upper GI tract bleeding, not from colon, but anyway needs to be evaluated.

May be normal: The reservoir of the large bowel is transverse colon and not rectum.  One may not be fully emptying that site if having normal BM.  The final solution is in colonoscopy where if nothing seen on complete scoping, this would rule out Ca.  If such occurs the symptoms may be arising in small bowel and at that point TCT of abdomen would be helpful

Bleeding: It depends. If it is bright red blood it could be an area of irritation at surgery site or anastomosis, an ulcer, a blood vessel or other complication of surgery. Other conditions unrelated to surgery such as hemorrhoids and diverticulosis can result in bleeding. You need to talk with your doctor to clarify what you are noting.

It depends: Rectal bleeding can be caused from hemorrhoids(commonest cause) or by colon cancer. So an examination is required to find the exact cause. Any rectal bleeding is a signal to go to your doctor for a complete examination to find the cause and treat it accordingly.
