Thickening makes the inside smaller.  Infection, inflammation and even cancer can cause it.  It is usually seen on ct, MRI or even colonoscopy. After looking at hundreds of such studies that are normal the writer is often at a loss of words to write detail. They do get fussed at if they say normal. Featureless to me means they found nothing worth describing.

Absolutely not true: The colon does nothing but reabsorb water to maintain your fluid balance. Fats, sugars are absorbed in the small intestine and assuming you have had none of that removed. You can easily gain weight if you eat incorrectly and do not exercise.

Consicious: You will be awake, but may drift into and out of consciousness.  Probably, wont remember the procedure from the anesthetic.
