No HCV infection: The first test that is done to see if someone has been exposed to hcv is an antibody test. If it is negative the vast majoity of people do not need additional testing. If someone had a recent exposure (high risk injection, sex, etc) the antibody might not be positive yet (can take 3 -6 months) and a hcv RNA (viral load) test is done. Also, if HIV or other immunosuppression may need RNA test.

Unrelated issue: It sounds like the screening test for hcv was positive, but not confirmed. This would not speak to the need or lack thereof for hepatitis b vaccination.

Wrong tests!: You need to get a CCP antibody test.  Your low titer RF may be meaningless, and 5% of the population has one.  The CCP test is much more specific for RA!

Don't have hep C now: If you meant the hcv RNA test was negative (and it was a good quality one), then the 1st positive anti-hep c ab test means one of two things: it was a false positive or you were infected at one piint in time and then was able to clear the infection on your own.

Good news on labs: If your Hep Be antigen (Ag) is negative, that means you don't have hepatitis B virus there in your body. That's great! The Hep B antibody (Ab) means that at sometime in the past you DID have it, but it probably cleared. I would ask for a Hep B virus DNA test to be absolutely sure (HBV DNA). The anti-HCV test means you don't have Hepatitis C, which is another good thing.

No need, no risk: If your doctor thought you were at risk and might have HCV, I'm sure she would have done an RNA test. And it sounds like you're not at risk. Contrarly to popular beliefs and some online claims, HCV is not a proved STD except by traumatic (bloody) anal practices in gay men. Frequency of infection is no higher in heterosexual partners of people with HCV, and no higher if 100 vs 3 lifetime partners.

Not necessary: That's a negative test result, with no need for confirmation.
