CT will show both: Yes, a ct scan will show both organs, the pancreas and the colon.  Contrast material, such as oral or IV contrast may enhance the evaluation.  Ct is probably the best modality for pancreatic imaging.   For the colon: inflamatory conditions, diverticulosis, and large tumors will usually be easily seen with ct.  Small lesions such as polyps within the lumen are better seen with colonoscopy.

Wrong: Ct scanning of the abdomen and pelvis shows the colon, yes, but not subtle mucosal lesions such as early cancer.
It shows your internal organs such as the liver, spleen, kidneys and pancreas in great detail.
It also shows your small intestinal and the numerous blood vessels. It can evaluate the connective tissue and fat to uncover inflammatory conditions or infections.

IBS: Ibs is not due to inflammation and would not show up on a biopsy or ct scan. One theory is that it is due to hypersensitive nerves that control colon contraction.

No worry: You RBC and hemoglobin is okay. It is not clear what is meant by colon thickening and you should ask your doctor about that.

: No, this common CT technique which is usually done in acute abdominal conditions without time for preparation does not detect colon lesion. However, a different technique called CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy) can be used as a screening tool for colon cancer but you need bowel cleaning + drinking oral contrast for preparation + air insufflation per rectum just before the CT done.

Mass in the colon : The answer is yes a CT is great for seeing abdominal masses.. Can you see you miss a small mass in the colon that can be seen with a colonoscopy yes?

Unfortunately those: two conditions can look similar on the CT scan.  Another option is to treat for diverticulitis, then repeat the CT scan to see if the abnormality has resolved.  If you don't have symptoms of diverticulitis, you should have the sigmoidoscopy.

Depends: A ct scan does not evaluate colon cancer very well. If there is "advanced" cancer as you asked, possibly a large colon mass could be seen, or if there is metastatic disease to the liver which may also be seen on ct scan. Otherwise, locally advanced cancer contained in the colon or lymph nodes may not be seen on ct scan.

i had a ct scan done for pain in my lower abdomen, the results show that i have a collapsed sigmoid colon. what does this mean and what can be done ?

See your doctor: Symptoms and concerns like these mandate a thorough evaluation by your doctor.  Only after such an evaluation, which may include labs and radiographic examinations, can he/she let you know what's going on and how best to help you.

Maybe: Polyps are diagnosed by either looking at the colon lining directly (colonoscopy) or by a specialized CT scan called CT colography (also called a virtual colonoscopy). Barium enema x-rays have been used in the past and may be appropriate in some circumstances.However, A CT may miss a smaller colon cancer
