what to do if i have a rattle sound in my lungs, is it pneumonia?

Secretions: The rattling sound from lungs is generally due to vibrations produced by retained secretions (mucus/phlegm) in the airways (breathing tubes) in your lungs. Mucus buildup can be due to several reasons - infections, ineffective coughing, bronchitis, chronic smoking, exposure to air pollution etc. Have yr doctor examine you to ensure there are no problems with your lungs that need immediate attention.

i'm sure i have some form of pneumonia (self-diagnosis). coughing w/ phlegm and rattling sound in lungs for past 12 days. can it go away on its own?

Hard to tell: The only way to diagnose pneumonia will be with physical exam and sometimes chest X-ray can make the diagnosis more clear.  If it is pneumonia you need to be antibiotics. Please consult your physician to be diagnosed appropriately and for treatment.

Crackles: Aspiration pneumonia is most commonly characterized by the sound of 'crackles' in the lung bases. This crackling sound is more commonly heard in the right lung as the the trachea bifurcates at a sharper downward angle toward the right lung in comparison to the left, and is more susceptible to collecting contents of aspiration.

why do docs order a chest xray for my child when lung sounds do not support a pneumonia diagnosis?

Depends: Sometimes auscultation (listening to patient's lungs) may be misleading especially if the location of pneumonia is deep and the focus is small. The other consideration might be that they want to rule out other possible chest disorders that your child is having. Unfortunately, children may not relay their history as well as adults, so you may want to admit some extra testing to be on a safe side.

so im on day 11 counting zero 12 of covid. i had a chest x-ray last night at the er bcuz urgent care said my bottom lung sounds were diminished. it was clear. will i be okay? or do i have to worry about pneumonia developing still?

: If finger O2 good then not likely to have more lung problems.  If not yet vaccinated follow local guidelines

lung ct report reads " 3 x 4mm well circumscribed slightly spiculated nodule in lower right lobe.because of margins 6 month ct scan suggested" had right lobe pneumonia at the time. does this sound like cancer? should she wait the 6 months?

Need more informatio: The background History is very important for the doctors to do any diagnostic testing. So tell us why you had the CT scan done in the first place?
Your age is against the diagnosis of Lung Cancer. Tell us if you smoke? If so how much?
Unless you have some lung symptoms, I would not be too concerned right now. A repeat CT scan in 6 months is appropriate unless you are too anxious waiting(?4 months

Your activity should: be limited only by your symptoms.  I think it would be safe as long as you don't over-exert your self.  Ask your doctor to be sure.

PFT work up: It is common to have a cough after most of the other symptoms of a viral illness have resolved. The shortness of breath though should not occur in association with the cough. This may represent bronchospasm or another cause. I would advise a pulmonary function test. If your lungs are clear and you are not febrile, pneumonia is less likely.

i was diagnosed pulmonary embolism in 2016, same year with pneumonia. case was resolved in 2018. it's been two weeks i have flue like symptoms, dry throat and mucus that feels stuck, tight chest, sound when breathing and sleepiness nights with sweat.

Evaluation: Rinse nasal passages with saline and keep well hydrated. Monitor for fever and if you have prolonged cough &gt; 3 weeks or chest discomfort, please see a physician. 
Most likely you had a viral illness which is lingering, but will resolve with a little bit more time.
