: I recommend you invest the $ in a trial of uptodate.com and read all about this issue then discuss with your Dr. who knows about rabies in NJ.  It is very unlikely from what I can read but do not know the details of your own and your family history of ALS, MS, Lupus, and other autoimmune diseases.  Please discuss with a local expert.

: This vaccination would not raise your risk of the diseases you listed. Talk to your doctor about stopping boosters if you do not have repeated exposures to the rabies virus.

Symptoms: Chances are you don't, because neither lupus, nor ms are common. They can happen but there are many other more common diseases that cause symptoms similar to those of lupus and ms. If you've not been feeling well, it warrants for you to see your doc.

None currently: At this point, no definitive blood tests are available for either, but suspect we will see some genetic testing arriving soon to assist confirming diagnoses.

Complicated: Not clear why a pt who has established MS would develop lupus, as more likely she has a biologically false positive ANA titer, which can occur from some medications and even infection (syphiiis).  But if she has both, treatment becomes very complex, as some rheumatological agents can worsen the MS (those that block tumor necrosis factor alpha).  Unlikely to kill her, but may affect quality of life

See details: The diagnosis should be relative easy to make especially if the ANA and other autoantibodies for lupus are negative.  The spinal fluid results can also be helpful. The MRI may be less so. If the ANA and dna are positive, think lupus.

Options: Some clinics will offer discounts to patients with no insurance and sometimes you can qualify for free medication from various pharmaceutical companies.  There are some free clinics in various communities but there is often long waits.  Your friends may also qualify for clinical trials that are being conducted for new medications or she might eligible for a clinic affiated with a medical schools.

my grandmother had ms & my aunt had lupus up until they passed, my mom got diagnosed recently w/both lupus&ms. what are the chances of me getting both?

Very uncommon.: Very unlikely.  Can (has been reported!), but neuropsychiatric and central nervous system disease occurs not infrequently in sle. However, ms has some definte laboratory and radiographic findings and sle does as well, so proper experts in rheumatology, neurology, and radiology should be able to sort it out!

i was diagnosed with lupus age 22. i am now 62. over the last year ive developed internal tremors. it is happening more frequently and each episode is lasting longer. does this necessarily have to fall under the diagnosis or pd, ms, or et?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably a neurologist. Wish you good health!
