Scabs p/tonsillectom: Usually between 7-10 days. Any sooner, and you run the risk of bleeding. Follow your post operative instructions and check in with your surgeon if you have any questions or concerns.

Probably: This is not unusual if the scabs are making you cough.  Just make sure there is nothing else running down the back of your throat making you cough - especially blood.  If you are bleeding after your scabs fall off and it doesn't stop right away - you'll need to go to the nearest emergency room right away to be evaluated.

yes some times: May take few more days to get better , speak to your surgeon and go for a follow up visit.

Tonsil: Great question. Scabs can stay on for a month and usually just fall off. Make sure you don't try to get them off as it can cause bleeding. see your ENT in f/u

: The scab should fall off piece by piece when you are eating or drinking and you will likely not notice.

Yes, but: I have seen a rare patient bleed over 2 weeks following a tonsillectomy. That, again, is rare. If you still are not healed and have scans it's a good idea not to be too aggressive with hard foods.

i just had a tonsillectomy 9 days ago. when will the scabs come off & as soon as they come off will i be able to eat normal foods again?

It may: It may take another week. You may still not be able to eat solid foods.

14 days past tonsillectomy. still seem to have very thick scabs covering about half of each wound. normal/common? when is the latest they should fall off? should i expect more increase in pain when they do? what is the chance of bleeding?

Otolaryngologist: I don't see anything unusual here, but I think you should ask your Otolaryngologist this question as he/she may want to check your throat. I wouldn't expect an increase in pain now but slight bleeding can occur.  The Otolaryngologist can answer your questions best.
