Transit Time: Digestion depends on food being in contact with digestive secretions and the intestinal surface long enough to be broken down and absorbed.  Things like lactose intolerance, infections and food poisoning speed up transit time and things like opiate painkillers, old age, inactivity and lack of fiber prolong transit time.

Broad topic: Generally lactose intolerance is the commonest malabsorption disorder. Avoiding large amounts of one type of food decreases such risk, eg. Dairy group, fructose, wheat, fats etc. Now there are syndromes associated with colitis, surgery, short gut, congenital causes, that are beyond the scope of this discussion.

Of course.: As you get on in years, your metabolism slows down and that high calorie junk food will have more of an impact on your weight.  Cut the junk foods and exercise.

Matabolism: As the saying goes, "One size does not fit all."  We each have a unique metabolism,the speed at which we digest food and turn it into energy and fat.  Lifestyle also plays and important part.  Are you basically healthy?  If so, rejoice.  We all want to look good and like being slim. Itchy skin: Most common cause of itch all over is dry skin.  If moisturizing with a fragrance-free cream, switching to a gentle soap like dove for sensitive skin or cetaphil bar, and not using a washcloth/sponge/scrubbie does not help the itch very quickly, please see your dermatologist.  There are many causes of allover itch that does not have a rash that need to be investigated as soon as possible.

Multifactorial: There is no one cause for adhd. Both genetic and environmental factors contribute. Where a child lives does not play a role in its causation but availability of health providers knowledgable in diagnosing adhd may play a role in a child getting diagnosed or not.

Food can be stuck for prolonged periods of time depending on what it was that got stuck (like a bone from fish) or if you have a  predisposition for it such as a stricture or narrowing in your esophagus. If it still feels like something is stuck this long after last eating, I would consider being evaluated by a GI specialist.

Mind free to,think: People,often want to eat at night because,that is,when many feelings arise.  In these cases, eating becomes a form of self medication that becomes habitual.  To stop, you can make your evening routine more structured.  But you still need to,figure out what is bothering you.  I notice that you are on a lot of pain meds.  Is that related in any way?
