Striae: Pcos does not cause stretch marks at all. Most women have an tendency towards stretch marks (striae) that is hereditary, so some women get them more easily than others. (blame your genes.) some endocrine problems - cushing's syndrome/disease for example - cause e stretch marks, but most don't.

Skin tears: Stretch marks are tears in the skin cause by weight gain. They can be covered up, but not improved by creams and lotions. The only possibly effective therapy is cosmetic plastic surgery, but that's a big step for a non-health and non-life threatening problem.

i have developed quite a few horizontal stretch marks across my lower back. what can i do? as they are very noticeable.

You have options: You see these mostly in tall guys in their rapid growth spurts. They&#x27;ll be red at first and then fade some. A dermatologist with a laser can make them fainter but I suggest that you consider keeping them for now -- somebody special in your future may like them, and tall is fun. You have complete control over your physical fitness, the best gift you can give yourself. PhotoGuy isn&#x27;t complaining.

See details: At age 17 the can be several possible causes including a condition known as spondylitis, congenital problems or just a strain. Have the issue evaluated. Sometimes abdominal issues can also cause back pain.

It depends: It depends on a few factors.  You need to know whether the trend of your pain is getting better or worse, whether stretching alleviates or worsens the pain, and whether strengthening alleviates or worsens the pain. 
The exercise program chosen and monitored should be individualized to your specific needs  during each phase of your injury.  See a spine doc if it still persists for a few weeks.

Leg pain: You MAY have hurt yourself doing yoga.  Please start w/seeing your doctor.  He/she MAY suggest physical therapy.  You need to make sure you are not currently doing some type of exercise that continues to irritate whatever may have been done.  Turmeric is a good natural anti-inflammatory after you know what you are dealing with. Peace and good health.

Maybe: Depends on  how you're stretching your calves.  If you're stretching calves and lower back at the same time then lower back may have been neglected.  If you're standing on a plank, and doing calf raises, lower back should not be affected.  The other question is are they innerveted by the same nerves?  Answer is no.

had tingling in left foot for past year, worked up as bulging disc l4-s1. also well controlled type 1 dm x25years. went for a walk today and when returned home i had numbness in both arches of feet. stretched, and iced lower back with relief. cause?

: Skeptical that a "bulging disc" is compressing a  nerve root to cause your foot tingling.  Most doctors would wonder about diabetic neuropathy.  Would wonder if your current symptoms may be secondary to subclinical tarsal tunnel syndrome.  See a podiatrist.

What's your age?: Stretch marks can show up on the back during puberty or adolescence, pregnancy, or taking male hormones. They could also show up it there's been weight gain. Itchy skin could be related to dryness. If these conditions don't apply, there's a possibility of a hormone imbalance, like a thyroid or adrenal gland mnalfunction. Those would have to be ruled out by blood tests and physical exam.
