These conditions frequently cause one to over secrete stomach acid and also triggers involuntary muscle spasm and tightness, both of which can contribute to the feeling that you describe.  Utilizing an antacid such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or Gellusil or any other ant-acid product will help neutralize the hyper (increased) acidity, thus helping to relieve symptoms.

No OTC med: There are no non-prescription meds that reliably treat generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).  In addition to tranquilizers such as Lorazepam (listed on your profile), there are also buspirone (Buspar) &amp; the SSRI antidepressants, which treat GAD &amp; are non-addictive.  They are not OTC.  Psychotherapy can help as well.
