RUQ  pains : Starts as right upper quadrant , back, and shoulder  pains, fatty food intolerance and some times fever and jaundice, as complications sets in. Several reasons to form gall stones, from infections , change in bile composition, altered ration of bile salts, cholesterol , fats ( lecithin ) and in some hereditary, what ever the reason lap.Chle. Is best option , invariably it will lead to complications.

Anything's possible: Stones in the gallbladder (gb) seldom cause symptoms unless they migrate into the neck of the gb (&amp; block exit of bile) or into the common bile duct. Symptomless gallstones may be diagnosed by chance by imaging or during investigation for some other condition. Bear in mind that only 10% become symptomatic within 5 years of detection.

: Gallstones are a much less common cause for chr. pancreatitis. Alcohol/tobacco and "idiopathic" (when a thorough evaluation fails to identify risk factors) are more common causes. Your doctor can help sort this with a history, exam, blood and urine labs, imaging and possible referral. Chr. pancreatitis is not as common compared to other causes so your symptoms are very treatable after an eval.

my brother had a bile duct obstruction caused by a gallstone. he was given ercp treatment 25 days after his first symptoms. he is doing fine since then. just want to know, are 25 days too long a time taken for the treatment or is it normal?

: Likely, the bile duct obstruction was not typical at onset; he might have just pain (biliary colic) without evidence of obstruction by ultrasound. ERCP is considered an invasive procedure so it is only done with absolute indication.
Fortunately, your brother has recovered well.

if gallstones do not cause issue and hida scan was fine should gallbladder be removed to prevent potential issues in the future? no symptoms thank goodness. drink a lot of water and low fat diet. scared of an attack?

Gall bladder : It is unusual to take out a normal gall bladder, without stones and normal function. It would be more justifiable to look for other causes of symptoms if they recur. Low fat diet, eating slowly and avoiding large meals are always advisable.
