what causes painful, burning, red feet (like bright pink socks)?

Accepted Answer

Possible infection: You may have cellulitis (skin infection) of your feet or you could possibly developing neruopathay which is fairly common if you have diabetes. 

I would see you primary doctor to make sure you don't have an infection. 

Other causes could be related to blood flow to your feet.

started taking gabapentin recently. occasionally get red feet which feel quite warm/hot. is this a side effect ?

Rarely: I've had this asked of me only on 2 other occasions that i can recall. Did not pan out to be a major issue.Sedation with the initiation of therapy seems to be the biggest drawback which is why we slowly titrate gabapentin. Gralise seems to better tolerated  
(sustained release once a day gabapentin)  more side effect issues with tramadol.

Erythromelalgia: This sounds like erythromelalgia it is an unusual disease characterized by redness and  burning in the extremities. It is tough to treat. The cause or causes are obscure.

i am a 23 year old female. i am experiencing red feet, blotchy legs and tingly feeling when standing. i have done blood tests, lumbar & cervical mris and both turned out ok. the doctors don't know what it is. any idea?

See below: If the doctors who examined you in-person were not able to diagnose, it is very unlikely that one of us, in this forum, will be more successful. One suggestion: If you are overweight, try to lose weight.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk prodFor good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

See a : Rheumatologist. Your blood findings are non specific markers of inflammation. A rheumatologist would likely order additional testing, mixed with clinical exam and history to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

Maybe: Some of your symptoms and tests could be related to an autoimmune disease.  You will need a more thorough history and physical examination to know for sure.  I would recommend you see a rheumatologist to determine your diagnosis.

Extent? Pain?: If it infection it is best to see physician early because walking will become difficult.Redness can be sign of infection, trauma, allergic reaction and needs to be seen to determine appropriate treatment.
