Started taking gabapentin recently. occasionally get red feet which feel quite warm/hot. is this a side effect ?

Rarely: I've had this asked of me only on 2 other occasions that i can recall. Did not pan out to be a major issue.Sedation with the initiation of therapy seems to be the biggest drawback which is why we slowly titrate gabapentin. Gralise seems to better tolerated (sustained release once a day gabapentin) more side effect issues with tramadol.
