High glycemic index: Foods (sugars, rice/white bread/potatoes/pasta) can rapidly raise blood sugar & trigger large release of Insulin which overcompensates & drops the blood sugar low. Mix good fats & protein with your meals & cut back on the sugars/starches should help stabilize blood sugars. See doc to be tested for "pre-diabetes" especially if diabetes runs in your family or your are significantly overweight.

Hypoglycemic: Normal blood sugar 1 to 2hours  after a meal in non-diabetics is below 100mg/dl. The range is considered to be between 70 and 100. If yours falls below this you are considered to be in the hypoglycemic range but in as much as your are not on medications to lower your blood sugar or have a condition that will do this, or it continues to drop,it is not dangerous. If you have symptoms, see a doctor.

No immediate worry: Eating a large load of carbohyderates and sugary drinks causes the body to produce excess of Insulin which can lower the blood sugar excessively(It is called reactive Hypoglycemia). It is not uncommon in the general population and can be avoided easily by limiting sweet drinks or avaoiding them alltogether. Another option is to add more proteins to your meals....this will slow down insulin release

Not hypoglycemia: A glucose of 60 is still normal.  It is the lower limits of normal any it is possible that one may be symptomatic from it but would consider other causes first.  If this is happening often see your doctor.

How do you FEEL?: And if you feel well, why do this? Many folks feel and do fine well below 80. And home monitoring isn't all that accurate.

IFG: Hi. You have impaired fasting glucose (IFG) but mount a brisk insulin response to a caloric load. You're early in the type 2 diabetes process, probably in the "prediabetes" stage (you ARE prediabetic by IFG). Healthy diet &amp; exercise should be your lifelong lifestyle. There are medicines that help prevent progression to type 2 diabetes as well. Talk with your doc. Good luck!

dr has me on low dose hydrocortisone and suggested i check blood sugars after a month on pills. today almost3 hrs after meal it was 81 is that normal?

Normal blood sugar: A fasting blood glucose of approximately 60-100, maybe up to 110 in some laboratories, is considered normal.  After you eat, the level goes up above 100, and then it comes back down afterward . Most of the time, the level should stay in the range where yours is .

Family practice : Why are you checking your blood sugars. Do you have any symptoms?  It would matter how or if you treat the low bs 's.  You should have an Insulin level.  Eat less carbohydrates and more protein with your diet.
