hi dr, i get repeated rashes the underside of my breast for which i am currently using dermikelp as i do not want to use cortisone. is this caused due to heat rash as i do suffer from the heat. what else can i do to ease the situation?

Rash: A rash under breast could be yeast infection. Try an anti yeast cream and keep the skin dry once rash is gone

Yes: But are you sure it is a heat rash? Why use oil on a heat rash? Ask your pediatrician to evaluate. Eczema? Seborrheic dermatitis? Other?

Still sounds fungal: Would treat it as a superficial fungal skin infection till gone and doesn't return: cleanse area well every morning, antifungal powder after drying, cotton underwear, if perspire-change during the day; combo antifungal/cortisone cream at night, make sure get the borders of the rash; and your doc or dermatologist should consider giving a short rx with an oral anti fungal medication. diangosis sounds right.

Zinc oxide: A true heat rash is a fungal infection with Candida Albicans (diaper rash).  It is treated with OTC anti-fungals.  Zinc oxide is also helpful for the irritation and redness.

Helps Inflammation: Hydrocortisone can help calm down the associated inflammation--or angry red response the skin makes around the red spots. It will also help the itching you may have with your heat rash. Keep the skin cool and dry and avoid tight clothing; small amounts of the new cream applied will make healing faster though it won't keep away new spots so work on prevention as well.

I wouldn't: A three week old would get baby acne bases on age more often than heat rash. This process self clears over time &amp; just needs to be kept clean. I find Calamine lotion  is excessively drying and has very little use if any in modern treatment of skin problems.

I would not: At 1 mo it is more likely a temporary condition called baby acne triggered by hormones that came over during pregnancy. It will self heal if you keep it clean &amp; leave it alone. Calamine is an excessively  drying agent that I would never put on a young babies skin.

one of my drs in the psych facility told me to use clotrimazole for heat rash and works? why is this? is it fungal in nature or i cannot tolerate heat

Sounds fungal.: Clotrimazole would work for a fungal rash, so if this worked then I would agree that your rash is fungal in origin.
