Synvisc (hylan g-f 20): Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) is derived from compound found in the comb of roosters.  It's chief component is hyaluronic acid, which attracts water and at least theoretically promotes new cartilage to develop, thereby increasing "cushioning" in the joint.

It depends...: If you had surgery to repair a tear, you should avoid weight bearing exercise for at least 8-12 weeks.  If you had the torn part removed, you could get back to it sooner.  If you have not had surgery, consult your orthopaedist.

but injections into the knee after such surgery is not unreasonable and might be helpful.

is lateral discoid meniscus definitely a condition that could existed at birth or within 1 year of birth. is this a developmental condition?

Not developmental: Although the exact cause of discoid meniscus is not known, it is known to develop during the same time the normal menisci take form.  There may be anomalous ligaments or cartilage that gets dragged into the joint as a matter of analogy, to form the disc rather than the crescent of a normal meniscus.  Discoid menisci present problems as early as childhood.  So, not a developmental problem.

can i go for military training with micro-tear on meniscus (left knee)? did my prp injection yesterday and have about 2 weeks left before training begins. will my knee recover before that time? need your advice, please help?

: Everyone is different. The Dr who can best tell you this is the one to best answer this. As the famous baseball player Yogi Berra once said: "It is tough to make predictions. Especially about the future".  I would tell your military trainer what has been going on before you start training. Suspect it puts stress on the knee.  You should be able to do some training: shooting, rifle care

Orthopod evaluation: is what you need, first to confirm the diagnosis, or another diagnosis, and directs you well through a treatment plan, as for the osteochondritis dissecans which you believe you have, please keep your joint at rest as much as you can and avoid stressing your knee, whether you need a cast, that's yet to be decided by the orthopod, there is no single treatment that fits every case, got to be customized

Painful swelling: If any fever or redness in the knee, see a doctor immediately. If it's the same underlying problem but worse, it still needs to be re-examined to figure out what is going on.

can a orthovisc injection weaken the medial meniscus? also unable to straighten the knee ?

Should not weaken : Orthovisc should  not injure any part of the knee. The needle could cause damage, but that is unlikely in skilled hands, and less likely still if guidance were used.
I suspect you received the orthovisc because you had significant wear and tear in the knee, and that might explain why you can’t straighten the knee. Hopefully when the med starts to work, you will improve. If not, call,the doc.
