Exercise burns calories- do both.

There is no best: Diet or workout.  It is about developing a healthy plan and having the committment to stick to it.To lose weight insure that calories burned &gt; calories consumed. Drink at least 8  - 8 oz glasses of water per day.  Aim for at least 5 servings of vegetables ; 4 servings of fruit per day. Use whole grain when possible. Avoid sodas, alcohol ; junk carbohydrates. Get in a good mix of aerobic ; weight.

If in normal health,: Losing weight is all about diet and exercise.  A well balanced diet is extremely important because you need to burn off more calories than you take in.  Try limiting your calories and lifting light weights, plus lots of running and cardio exercises. Avoid sugars and simple starches because they make you hungry soon after eating. Foods with protein are better. Eat LESS overall. Walk more.

If you still want to do the fast be sure to write a will.

Move for 15 minutes after each meal in  pain free ways, play in pain free ways. Get a good night sleep.

The more low carb vegetables you eat, the more easily you will lose weight. I recommend at least 50% of your diet be low carb vegetables if you want weight loss.
