i have had two warts on the palm of my hands for years. i only realised what they were last year. websites like plannedparenthood say you cannot pass them to genitals through masturbation but stories online say yes.can the virus be passed this way?

Not to worry: There are dozens of wart strains that infect humans &amp; each strain requires a specific tissue. Genital warts live only on genitals, not hands &amp; are passed only through genital to genital contact. Skin wart strains can travel to other common skin surfaces, but do not infect genital skin.

inoticed 2 days ago i have very tiny "tapioca" type bumps on the palm of my left hand. they don't itch or hurt... just curious if it might be a warts?

Doubt it's warts: Sounds like a form of eczema. They might break open and peel. They might itch later. Really hard to say without seeing. Should be evaluated if does not improve or gets worse.

Hand warts: Depends on the size of the wart. If you cna treat non surgically, it may be better. Dermatologists freeze them too. Saee one.

Acid and scraping: A otc acid and scraping with a pumice bar will help.  If not, you can use the liquid nitrogen, liquid nitrous oxide (this is what i like to use). You can also try oral cimetadine (400 mg three times a day for 12-16 weeks). This is very safe and had the side effect of getting rid of warts for many people of adult size and weight (japma november 1, 1995 vol. 85 no. 11 717-718 ).

Rash: Although this may be vesicular dyshidrosis (common benign skin condition), without actually being able to see it makes it very difficult to say. If this keeps up and is disturbing you, go and show it to your family doctor.

Warts may transfer: Yes, warts may transfer to other parts of your body. As you stated, warts are caused by HPV which is a virus. Most often this virus is spread by scratching a wart and then scratching another area of your body, damaging the skin barrier, and letting the virus in. In the vast majority of cases the HPV strains that caus warts on the hands are NOT the same strain that cause genital warts.

Yes: Warts are caused by hpv (human papilloma virus), of which there are many different strains.  Since it is a virus, you can pass it on to others, and vice versa.

I wouldn't worry: The minimal exposure is unlikely to pas the wart on to you.In the remote chance that it might, early treatment could minimize any effect.

Skin & hand washing: Washing hands too frequently and/or using harsh soaps can worsen or even provoke eczema eruptions.  In one form of hand eczema called dyshidrotic dermatitis, there can be small clear fluid filled vesicles under the skin, giving a "tapioca pudding" appearance.  Washing hands too much does not give rise to warts.

my friend's nephew has warts all over his hands. i ate chips from the same bowl as him  before i knew about it. could i catch it on my hand from that?

Unlikely : Warts are viral infections and need to removed. They can be contagious but this sounds less likely to be spreadable.
