No: The pill will not protect you from warts. The only way you may be protected is to use condoms and that may not be effective 100 percent of the time.

St. John's/BCPs: St. John's Wort induces the P450 mechanism and increases the clearance of many medications, of which oral contraceptives is one (may make your pills less effective).  Although St. John's Wort is effective for mild depression, consultation with your doctor for alternatives or using a second form of birth control (condom) may be in order.

HPV treatment: Which dr to see depends on where hpv infection is. Cervical-gyn, rectal-colorectal surgery, skin and mucous membranes-dermatologist. Hpv on the skin is treated with liquid nitrogen, shave removal, Imiquimod (stimulates immune system attack on hpv), topical meds that cause destruction of warts, like podofilox, cantherone, injections of immune systems stimulants like candida, lasers. Lots of methods.

Usually no symptoms: Oral HPV infections are not rare, but a lot less common than genital ones. Almost all oral HPV infections are asymptomatic and invisible:  no warts, bumps, pain, burning, or anything else. When warts do appear, they are painless bumps, often with a "cauliflower" appearance. There are no recommended OTC treatments. Happily, oral HPV is rarely dangerous. If you suspect oral warts, see your doctor.

Local: The treatment for genital warts is prevention (hpv vaccine) or removal once you have them.  Usually done by Podophyllin resin applied to the wart.   Genital warts on an infant or young child is a sure sign of sexual abuse and should be dealt with immediately.

The warts commonly found on the hands are usually painless. Different viruses will cause different kinds of warts. All are usually cured by freezing with liquid nitrogen application. Skin cancer can have a similar appearance to a wart. Always have skin lesions checked.

Try Duct Tape: Some warts can be removed by placing duct tape pieces cut out to the size of the wart, and keeping the wart covered for several weeks.  Replace the tape daily and gently scrub the wart off as it softens, and then replace the tape.
