Yes: Raynaud's syndrome (or blanching of the limbs) is exactly what you describe . However this is not a disease--it is a syndrome which can be caused by multiple disorders. This needs evaluation by a doctor.

Acrocyanosis: The vascular systems of young children are notoriously hyper reactive.  Pallor or blueness results from rapid shunting of blood toward the vital organs when the body is chilled.  As long as there is no associated blueness of the lips and tongue, this is likely nothing of concern.

Probably normal: It can be normal for an infant to do this if they are cold. If her lips are not blue, then she's probably fine. I'd have your daughter discuss it with their pediatrician.

Raynaud's Phenomenon: The symptoms you describe are suggestive of Raynaud's Phenomenon. This can be Primary or Secondary. Meaning, if secondary, it may be related to other conditions such as certain types of arthritis and even SLE (Lupus). Some medications can also contribute to this. Get checked out: Body makes fever by decreasing blood flow to skin and thus keeps the heat in the body.  So the blue hands/feet/nose may jsut be a result of this movement of blood flow away form skin.  However, when you start talking about blue lips, and certianly if inside of mouth (ie tongue...) is bluish, this is emergency and needs to get checked out right away.

Follow up: Bluish hands mean blood  has lost its oxygen is dark bluish-red. People whose blood is low in oxygen tend to have a bluish color to their skin, called cyanosis.

Depending on the cause, cyanosis may develop suddenly, along with shortness of breath and other symptoms.

Cyanosis that is caused by long-term heart or lung problems may develop slowly
need to see a cardiology and pulm doctor

Maybe: This is called Raynauds phenomenon and is caused by vasospasm on cold exposure as you describe. It can occur by itself or be related to quite a few diseases and disorders. It is particularly important if it is of recent onset. You should see a Board certified Internist or Rheumatologist.

Biofeedback: You may have a circulatory problem.  Check w/doc and when you find out what it is you may be a good candidate for biofeedback, a way psychologists use to re-train the body to change circulation, brain waves, etc.  The very best to you.

I'm : I'm just like you.  My hands get cold and mottled in the cold.  We all protect our core temperature (the heat of our heart, lungs, and brain) as a survival mechanism.  You and i are better at it than others!  it's hard to draw a line between normal and abnormal here.

Never hurts to get checked, but the probability is that you are healthy.
