Is possible: It may be healed but you may have a prominent part of the bone that would benefit from a showe insert that accommodates. Let your doc know it hurts and he/she can advise you.

Yes : it is normal to hurt for upto 12 wks

Pain: Everyone deals with residual pain differently.  Some people would be pain free by now, but it is not uncommon to still have some discomfort.  Hopefully in time, the pain, with continuing therapy and treatment, will resolve totally.  Best wishes.

Soon : Usually can wear special offloading shoe for 6-8 weeks and then wear normal footwear

when i walk the head of metatarsal hurts really bad like a sharp pain. there's no bruising or swelling. could it be fractured?

Accepted Answer

It could be: If you are an active person or you had a misstep while walking recently, it is possible to have a stress fracture. But, it could also be an inflammation related to sprain or arthritis or some kind of soft tissue injury.  Examine your shoe first. Apply Ice, use an insert, anti inflammatory and if not improvement, see a doctor.

Varies: It varies in part on the exact location of the fracture.  That being said, most metatarsal fractures are well healed by 8-12 weeks.

Usually heals ok: if there is no pain and no discomfort then it should heal ok Be sure to wear good support shoes  If increase pain then see provider

Could of reinjured: Check with your doctor. I would recommend checking your vitamin d levels as well.

Ask your surgeon: He/she will likely say 8-12 weeks depending on the healing process. Follow directions carefully as you don’t want chronic problems. All the best.
