6 weeks: it depends what part of your fifth metatarsal was broken and if it is displaced. Some areas and types of fractures take longer than others to heal, like a jones fracture. Make sure you follow your doctor's directions so it heals properly. Usually those fifth metatarsal fractures have to be immobilized in a boot. They take about 6 to 8 weeks to heal. And sometimes they have to be operated on.
