variety - see below: Tuberculosis, cancer, lupus, behcet syndrome can all produce persistent ulcers.  Needs oral surgeon evaluation asap.

how common is donovanosis in the us and could i have missed this for 7 months? just developed an ulcer on my vulva being treated for vulvadynia (sp)

Herpes?: There has been almost no reported donovanosis in the US for 20+ years, maybe a few cases acquired elsewhere. Same for chancroid. By far the most common cause of genital ulcer is herpes, even in people with no known herpes previously (and could show up 7 mo after exposed). Syphilis is possible but also rare. See a doctor ASAP:  speed is crucial for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

how do i heal vulva skin that is damaged from frequent/prolong yeast infections? skin is thinned, red and slightly swollen. no rough patch, no discolouration, no ulcer?

: The best way is to be treated effectively for the yeast infection. I wonder why you have a diagnosed condition of yeast infection and you have not had adequate treatment. The infection is responsible for the skin inflammation.

COULD BE HERPES: Suggest you see your gyn when it recurs. If herpes there is treatment for same, but need to be sure that it is that.

Possibly: We know that people without symptoms or eruptions can still shed &amp; transmit herpes virus which lies in nerve roots. I assume herpes virus in nerve roots in lower vertebrae could cause neuropathic pain in your case. A neurologist would be best to answer your question, however.

Possible viral.: If you have a significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider & get a strep throat test & culture. Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day. You can gargle with aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mixture of chamomile tea with honey & a small amount of lemon juice is good.

Yes: Friction, hair cuts, infections can all cause ulcerations. See an ob-gyn to evaluate the area and get a correct diagnosis.  You do want to be certain this is not a STD or herpes, as these can be spread to your partner.

i'm have a severe reaction to imiquimod (aldara). some ulceration in the vulva, really sore, red and swollen. the pain is excruciating. what to do?

Call doctor: Keep the area clean and dry. Do not apply any more of the medicine. Notify your doctor, Aldara (imiquimod) commonly causes this type of reaction.
