Multivitamin: Taking a general multivitamin, such as centrum or one-a-day, or even prenatal or flintstones, would help you feel more energetic.  Take one every day, drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly and it will help.

is there any known therapy methods for stopping ptsd nightmares? consciously, i can handle what happened, but the nightmares won't go.

Treatment options: Nightmares often decrease in severity/frequency with standard PTSD treatment. If they persist, however, additional treatments include medication and a form of therapy referred to as Imagery Rehearsal, in which the person changes the narrative of how the nightmare ends while they are awake.  In addition, sleep disordered breathing is common in PTSD, and treating the same often yields improvement.

i nearly died from a serious illness. i am recovered but so terrified of a recurrence that i can't live. in therapy and on meds but still scared.ptsd?

PTSD is a: POSSIBILITY.  Please see a mental health professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment.  There are other possibilities also.  So sorry for what you have been through and invite you to celebrate life in the Present Moment.  Peace and good helath.

Have you tried: Psychotherapy? Consider doing some work looking at whether other factors are related to your sadd. Sometimes there can be anniversary reactions to winter events. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Skilled therapist: That sounds really difficult. It might be a good idea to find a psychologist whose specialty is trauma and ptsd. Emdr and other body based therapies with a skilled practitioner could also help. Psychologytoday.Com is a good resource to find someone who will be a good fit. 2-5 years: Combat-related ptsd often subsides on its own in 2-5 years, though in some cases symptoms can persist much longer. Drug and alcohol use, unemployment, and poor social support worsen diagnosis. Conversely, a strong social support (including a healthy marriage), gainful employment, and a healthy lifestyle all improve outcomes. Of course, those that receive treatment improve much faster.

can you tell me if it's ever possible to get over ptsd without any therapy?

In general, no: PTSD is one of the most severe types of anxiety disorders.  CBT (COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY) is a type of therapy that is structured , highly recognized and has established evidence to help.  A variant known as Trauma Focused CBT  is particularly helpful.  Mediation , routine sports/exercise and other grounding lifestyle changes are indispensable.   By the way, I do transcendental meditation :)

can a child get over ptsd on their own, or do they need help with therapy and medication?

Yes to both: Getting over ptsd by a child "on their  own" is probably not "getting over it" but "not getting it". Children under similar circumstances can go very different ways and it's not easily explained as to why. The severity of ptsd is quite variable. The more severely ill need the most intervention which includes counseling, strong support from family and very often medication or hospital stays.

there seems to be some controversy over the use of high-dose vitamin therapy to treat certain diseases--what is your opinion?

Rare: High dose vitamins usually not good for anything except for seller.  Recent very large study showed 8% reduction in all cancers in group who took one multivitamin a day.  Large doses of vit e, d, a etc may be dangerous and in certain diseases even a regular multivite is contraindicated.

recieving  meds & therapy for 5yrs. dep. &. ptsd  am more stable but it is still a battle daily of being physically slow & sad. will it get better?

See below: It will get better. Don't lose hope. Many things will also depends on triggers of the depression and your own experience of trauma that lead to ptsd.  I encourage you to talk to your providers and address what is happening and how you feel in terms of your progress. Take everything one day at time -- embrace the good days and work through the tough ones. Good luck!
