i took one dose of vitamin k2 (mk7) and it has caused awful side effects (heart fluttering, chest pains, headaches, dizziness and facial flushing) i took the pill four days ago and still have symptoms. how long does it take for the vitamin to leave?

: Using ordinary doses, the vitamin should be long out of your system.  Please see your doctor to address the remaining symptoms.    Seeing your doctor is preferable to urgent care, but you may also go to urgent care if usual MD is not available

: This was likely an individual allergic reaction to some material (even a  trace amount) in the product, not the vitamin K which is present in foods you eat. The natural vitamin K is a co-factor in the formation of the blood factors that allow you to clot normally. The exposure you cited is unlikely to have any effect on your clotting, or anything else. I would avoid that product in the future.

doctor. i have a 2mm calcification in my brain. i found out about it when i had a computer tomography. i have been having a headache on the right side of my head. does calcification in brain go away itself? does vitamin k2 help?

Accepted Answer

: Calcification usually reflects injury and consequent healing. Such lesions do not usually progress, nor they regress or disappear. The headache may or may not be related to imaging findings. Vitamin K2 is not likely to help.

No.: Your body needs it and allergies do not occur.  That being heing said, you can be allergic to other ingredients in the vitamin!

Good for most unless: Vitamin K2 help prevent and reverse atherosclerosis and osteoporosis and also reduces risk of certain cancers. Thus it may be beneficial to just about everybody unless they are on the drug coumadin (warfarin), (warfarin) as it can interfere with it. But even those on coumadin (warfarin) may benefit from small amounts of K2!

: My reading shows that there are no known harmful side effects from taking excessive amounts of vit K2. However since you took a.mega amount, I would like you to validate this advice with your pharmacist or the poison control center near you.

Vit D3 absorption: Wow.  Excellent question!  Scientific evidence shows that vit D absorption itself is not strongly influenced by vit K1 or K2 or K3.  Data do show that D3 is superior to D2 in repleting D deficiency.  Vit K2 importantly activates calcium uptake into bone matrix. K2 elevates osteocalcin = a "bone building" compound. K2 also elevates matrix GLA, which inhibits vasc calcification. D3 + K2 = YES!

Yes: Aspirin is not an anticoagulant that can be reversed by vitamin k.
