Blood culture please: Most of the time viridans group streptococcus in the urine is of no importance, it is not usually the root cause of a UTI and often a contaminant.  However, in a small number of patients, it may be a sign of a systemic infection with streptococcus such as endocarditis.  Please ask your doctor to order two sets of blood cultures.

S. viridans: Is most likely from contamination of the urine specimen and not the cause of infection. That is why your doctor is not treating it.

Not so rare: There's nothing mysterious here. This isn't a common cause of urinary tract infection, but certainly can happen. In women, almost all UTIs result from bacteria in the vagina, where various strep bacteria are often present. Exact sources in men less clear, but probably from skin contamination.

Very common: Gbs is common and generally doesn't cause health problems in adults, but could cause serious infections in newborns which is why we test for it.  If found, we simply treat the mother with antibiotics prior to or during delivery and most problems can be avoided.

Explanation : If it was clean catch urinalysis, the culture usually contain some amount of different bacteria. For positive result, mean infection, culture should contain more than 100,000 org/ml. Your result look benign.

Strep D and amox: Strep is sensitive to amoxicillin but the issue is what is the source of the infection. If a simple UTI amox 10 days should work. But if due  chronic  prostatitis (if male)or pyelonephritis or renal seeding may need longer course of antibiotics or possibly Iv treatment. if due to endocarditis- check blood cultures-, will need prolonged tx as well. Strep D can be from vagina as well. f/u/ w/ MD

Group D: Group D strep can be associated with endocarditis, however it can cause urinary tract infection. If you have a fever you should be treated.
