Strep D and amox: Strep is sensitive to amoxicillin but the issue is what is the source of the infection. If a simple UTI amox 10 days should work. But if due chronic prostatitis (if male)or pyelonephritis or renal seeding may need longer course of antibiotics or possibly Iv treatment. if due to endocarditis- check blood cultures-, will need prolonged tx as well. Strep D can be from vagina as well. f/u/ w/ MD
