NO: Do not put any chemical in your ear with a perforated drum. Many chemicals are ototoxic and may lead to permanent hearing lost and/or vertigo. See an ENT doctor.

Treatment for ear: The alcohol displaces any water in the ear to prevent infection; the vinegar (acetic acid) restores the normal acid balance in the ear canal. Use caution if the eardrum (tympanic membrane) may be broken (perforated); see fp or ENT in such cases.

my son just complained of dizziness and pain after i gave him swimmers ear drops ( half vinegar and half alcohol). i would appreciate any suggestions?

Common: The dizziness is quite common if u put the ear drops which are very different in temperature from the surroundings. The pain is common if the ear canal is inflamed and irritated. You shd stop using the drops. Try it again one more time. If the symptoms recur you shd visit his doctor. If the pain was severe it wld be better if u go earlier and do not use the drops again till he is checked out.

: You can mix in advance. The two chemicals will be mixed but will barely react with each other (a miniscule amount of isoproyl acetate forms). As long as the container is secure, you can prevent the isopropyl alcohol from evaporating from the mixture. Keep it away from heat, sparks, etc

i went swimming and i have water trapped on my ear.  i used swimmers ear drops, peroxide, alcohol and vinegar mixture, yet i have no relief.

Water in outer ear: If you have no perforation in your ear drums, you can use 3-4 drops of 95% isopropyl alcohol into each ear to help evaporate the water. There was no reason to use vinegar or peroxide. If the water doesn't dry up, you need to see an ENT to evacuate the water before irritation or infection sets in..

Ear wax: Its safe as long as you don't have an ear infection.  I was once tought a similar formula by an ENT friend of mine. He said mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar, and rubbing alcohol together right before using.  Place 3-5 drops in each ear a couple of times per week and you won't have ear wax problems.  Hope this helps.

Safe: I can find no reports of interactions of vinegar and accutane. As long as you only use a small amount of rice vinegar the amount of alcohol will be too small to have any negative effect.

Acetic Acid: Vinegar is not alcohol. It is Acetic Acid and can be helpful in digestion. It should be fine with isotretinoin.

Why?: I am not sure that there would be severe side effects but why would you do this?  I assume you are talking about using rubbing alcohol and this is VERY drying. The vinegar is an acid but is at a low strength but again can be drying and will not be helpful for your skin or any open sores. I would strongly reccomend against doing this .
