No: There is no role for vinegar and water if there is a true infection in the ear, this should be evaluated by your primary care doctor.

No: Sometimes vinegar in  an ear drop can help suppress fungal growth in the canal, but it creates a moist environment that causes other canal issues. It will also never reach the middle ear &amp; effect a true middle ear infection.

Try warming it.: For my patients  i suggest a solution of vinegar and alcohol for mild swimmers ear.  You might try warming the solution by holding it in your hands for 5minutes. Cold solution in your ear will cause most people to get dizzy.

No: If it is a middle ear infection, rubbing alcohol will not do anything for the infection that is going on behind your ear drum.

Pressure equalizing.: The yawning equalizes pressure in the middle ear - thus you feel the movement.

No: Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i am in cancun, came down with what i think is a sinus/ear  infection... still want to be able to drink alcohol but want to relive the presure from my head what can i do... most medicine in mexico is apparently over the counter?

Surgery may not help: I am a doctor who suffered for years with sinus infections.do the following:
1.Avoid anything cold.
2.no soda.
3.I use Sovereign Silver spray when I feel like I am getting another attack.its safe and natural.u won't get it in Mexico :(
4.I use VICKS topically as much as I can.
5.I use a humidifier at night
6.I drink lots of water.

Swimmer's Ear: Better to have your doctor look in ear. Prescription drops best.

Rubbing on ear s: Hard to say.  Years ago a study was done. Over a hundred babies just pulling on their ears: one third had an ear infection, one third were normal and one third had something wrong unrelated to the ear like teething, sore throat, skin rash etc.  Bottom line is have  your infant checked by your doctor and if he has a normal exam, you may never know but you don't have to worry.

my granddaughter is on amoxicillin for an ear infection is it ok to rub tree tea oil on the back of her ear? mixed with warm water?

Accepted Answer

Topical remedy: Tea tree oil should have no effect on the amoxicillin.   Watch for any signs of skin irritation, e.g. contact dermatitis.
