i don't usually take medicine but i have a hirrible toothache. i have vicodin that is a few years old. can i take 1?

Probably: More than likely it's fine to take it, but its always questionable as to how effective it will be.  Expired medication isn't always as effective.  I'd prefer seeing you take non-expired medication.

Re-eval expectations: You really can't expect pain medication to stop moderate or severe dental pain.  You need to call a dentist or endodontist to determine the source and recommend a course of action.

Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen works just as well if not better than Codeine if you take it before the pain gets worse.  400 to 600 mg every 4 to 6 hours for two to three days.  Take it regularily and it will keep the pain at bay.

At prescribed time: Take your Buspirone as you normally would at the normal time.
Though you should avoid activites such as driving until you know how you will react, though i would not suspect any significant additive effects. 
Just taking vicodin in general if you are not used to it could cause  impairing  effects.

NSAIDs : Nsaids (advil, ibuprofen, motrin, aleve, (naproxen) naprosyn, etc.) are much more effective at controlling dental pain than opiates (hydrocodone, vicodin). Need to make sure not infected as you may need antibiotics. Rinsing with lukewarm salt water & flossing can help. Can also try mouth rinse with a little whisky or cognac. Get seen at a county clinic or work with your dentist to fix bad ones fixed first.

Yes, but don't: Yes but it is very dangerous. I know 2 people that have died doing exactly what you asked. The 2 drugs magnify each other. The result makes you sleepier. The problem is you may never wake up. Alcohol does nothing for tooth pain, just helps you sleep through it. We do this kind of thing with anesthesia, but someone is watching you with a monitor.

i took a daytime cold/flu medicine with 650mg acetaminophen 5-6 hours ago. i have a terrible tooth pain that wont go away. is it safe to take a vicodin now?

Toth pain: It is considered relatively safe to do so considering the time between the two but it is best to discuss this with your prescribing physician.

Toothache symptoms: When a tooth hurts, it is a symptom of a problem.  There is infection somewhere in the area.  It could be around the tooth or within the tooth.  You need a dentist to determine what the problem is and treat the cause. An antibiotic won't be enough without finding the source. Infections can spread, they put pressure on tissues and can cause intense ear and tissue pain.  Consult a dentist asap.

Ambusol: There are local anesthetics that can be applied to the gums that will relieve the pain. The same medicine that teething babies use.  But call the dentist and tell them you are in pain and you need a appt asap.
