Who knows?: You can try anything you would like, but the benefits can only be assessed by results.  My recommendation if the rx did not work would be to go back to the doctor who prescribed it and find out whether the issue is what they thought it was and whether a change in medication is indicated.

Preterm: Not necessary that you will have any of these, although you can. You could still have a perfectly normal baby and pregnancy. You can have preterm birth with bv, a baby low in weight for gestational age, a uterine infection, and more. Get it treated.

Medication problems: Side or adverse effects from a medication warrant a call to the prescribing physician.  In most cases, an alternative can be offered.  It is never advised to prematurely stop a medication intended to treat an infection unless under the advice of your treating doctor, as this practice often leads to persistent and/or resistant infections.

metrogel cream or pessaries do not have the same SE as PO Flagyl

As : As far as I am aware there are no interactions between Metronidazole and marijuana. I am sure you are aware that marijuana is illegal, therefore it is in your best interest to try an obtain a medical marijuana card if you do not have one already.

Osteo meds: There are several different medications that could be appropriate, some with fewer side effects. The choice of treatment depends on your risk factors and results of your bone density test (severity of bone thinning). The alternative, a broken bone, is no fun either.

If you can tough out the side effects and you're showing early treatment response, finish treatment.
