Try to restrain: This is simply an extreme version, what we call hypertrophy, of normal anatomic features.  There is no medical treatment and i would not recommend surgical removal because it very well may be ineffective and could create problems and scarring that are worse than what you have.

is vestibular papillomatosis contagious? they are itchy and burn a little. can i get treatment for this and is it dangerous/ harmful?

Normal : Vestibular papilomatosis is a normal variant that often gets mistaken for hpv condyloma or genital warts. An experienced gynecologist can visually see the difference but often a biopsy is needed to prove it. If the diagnosis is confirmed then no treatment is needed since this is normal and not contagious.

It depends...: Vestibular papillomatosis is normal, just a minor anatomic difference in some women&#x27;s genital tissues usually of the labia minor or vaginal opening. There are no good data on its frequency, but probably it&#x27;s present in a very small minority of women. OTOH some gynecologists and STD experts see it frequently because of women who are concerned or have questions about it. But nothing to worry about!

Viral papules: Painless papillomatosis is viral in causation, but usually will not be "cured" by either "castor oil" or an "ordinary cream".  Ask your healthcare provider about using trichloroacetic acid (diluted) on affected areas.

i have vestibular papillomatosis but sometimes i feel itchy in my labia. could it be due to allergies to detergents? what medicine should i take to relieve itching?

: Low dose nonprescription corticosteroid cream or ointment recommended by your pharmacist can relieve vaginal itching. Oral antihistamines like Benadryl (causes drowsiness) or Claritin (no drowsy) also relieves itching. Wear white cotton panties&amp;avoid tight fitting jeans.

Labial lesion: New growths on the genital area should be evaluated by your doctor. These may be genital warts or another infection. Certainly burning while urinating is not my normal and this also needs evaluation. Feel better soon!

i have skin growing between my urethra and vaginal opening. it's not a cyst or wart, it kind of resembles vestibular papillomatosis. it has become extremely bothersome and painful. i have seen 3 doctors who didn't take the time to properly diagnose?

: Sorry for your frustration but without seeing the lesion up close, it is extremely difficult to help you, especially three doctors have failed to make the diagnosis. Because the lesion is painful so it is for sure not consistent with vestibular papillomatosis which is a common, benign, asymptomatic lesion of the vagina. Please seek a fourth opinion from an experienced GYN doc or a dermatologist.
